Cystoid Macular Edema

Cystoid macular edema (CME) refers to a condition in the back of the eye that often affects central vision. The macula is that portion of the retina involved in fine visual acuity. CME is a type of fluid accumulation in the macula.

There are many different causes of CME, and many of these causes are treatable. Your eye doctor needs to give you a through examination and will probably perform several tests to help assess the severity and cause of the CME.

Treatment of CME can involve a medical or surgical approach. After a consultation with your eye doctor, a plan can be formulated to treat your CME.
